Smoking is permitted outside all terminals before security. After security, options are limited: Terminal 1 only offers smoking via the Cibeles VIP lounge terrace near Gate B26 (accessible with business class or Priority Pass). Terminal 4 has a well-regarded open-air smoking area near Gates J40-J9 with tables, chairs, vending machines and charging stations (confirmed August 2025). Terminals 2, 3 and 4S have no after-security smoking facilities.

Large, well-marked outdoor smoking area located near the entrance to Gates J40-J9 on the lower floor. The area is outdoors but covered, with tables, chairs, vending machines, a food truck, charging stations and plants. Widely praised as one of the best airport smoking areas. Confirmed operational as of August 2025.
