Smoking policy at Beijing, Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX)
Warnings & Caveats
Lighters are strictly prohibited within the airport and at security checkpoints.
Beijing Daxing International Airport Smoking Policy
Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) has no smoking rooms on-site beyond security. An April 2024 passenger update stated that smoking rooms and designated smoking areas beyond security are now closed for the foreseeable future.
According to airport officials, passengers who pass through security may not smoke anywhere within the secure area of the airport.
Before Security
Smoking is permitted outside the terminal building before security screening.
However, in the past, there were outside smoking areas in these locations.
4th floor outside terminal next to Doors / Gates 3 and 4
Outside the terminal on the 3rd floor near Doors / Gates 9 and 10
1st floor, outside the terminal, near Doors / Gates 17 and 18
These areas lie outside the terminal and are to be used before entering the security area.
After Security
There are no smoking rooms or areas after passing through security at Beijing Daxing Airport.
Travellers reported the presence of smoking gardens or areas after security, but this may be out of date. As of April 2024, the traveller should assume that they are unable to smoke from the moment they pass security until they leave the airport at the final destination.
Transit Passengers
For those connecting through Beijing Daxing, it is required to go to Beijing Capital to smoke.
Enter China officially.
Exit the secure transit area.
Go outside the terminal to one of the outdoor smoking areas.
Return to the terminal.
You will pass through security again.
This would only be realistic if you have sufficient transfer time and permission to enter China with a visa or are eligible for visa-free transit.
Lighters and Vaping
Lighters are subject to strict airport security in China.
Vaping is equivalent to smoking. Do not vape inside the terminal or post-security. Use the outdoor smoking areas prior to security screening.
