Smoking policy at Hong Kong, Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
Hong Kong International Airport is not a smoke-free airport and smoking is permitted only in designated areas. Passengers must not smoke in the terminal buildings, at the gates, in toilets, corridors, lounges, and other areas in the airport.
Before Security
There is not a confirmed smoking area pre-security on the current list of SmokingAirports' confirmed smoking areas. Smokers' best options are post-security, especially in Terminal 1 and the Midfield Concourse.
After Security
The Sky Garden, also known as the Smokers Garden, near Gate 10 in Terminal 1, an outdoor terrace with ashtrays, is the best smoking option. It is also one of the easier smoking areas to reach from the main Terminal 1 area.
Another good option is the Observation Deck, situated in the Midfield Concourse, which is better suited for those whose flight is in the vicinity of gates 201-220 — for example Gate 202, Gate 205, Gate 209, etc.
Closed / Unreliable Smoking Rooms
This list does not include the current smoking room situation at HKG. However, several of the older smoking rooms around T1, the Midfield Concourse, and the NSC are known to be closed.
Older HKG smoking rooms were reportedly located near gates 25, 29, 41, 63, 64, 202, 209, 211 and 219.
Vaping at HKG
While the airport is not clear in its vaping policy, it is recommended that the same precautions are taken as smoking and that guests only vape in smoking areas or ask a member of airport staff.
