Larnaca International Airport (LCA)

Larnaca International Airport operates under Cyprus national law, which bans smoking in all enclosed public spaces. The only guaranteed landside option is the designated outdoor smoking area outside the terminal building before you pass through the entrance doors. Once you are airside, your options narrow considerably, but there is at least one reported smoking spot past passport control.

Before Security

Smoking is only permitted outside the terminal building in clearly signposted designated zones. These are open-air areas, so you are exposed to the elements. Crucially, once you walk through the sliding entrance doors into the terminal, you cannot smoke again until you reach the airside area after passport control. There is no re-entry option once you have checked in and passed security, so time your last landside cigarette carefully.

After Security

Reports describe it as functional but not particularly clean.

The Swissport Club Lounge (also referred to as The Club Lounge) at Larnaca Airport has a large walk-out patio with chairs, tables, and ashtrays, confirmed as of January 2019. Access to this lounge is not free for all passengers; it is a paid or membership-access facility. If you have lounge access through your airline, a credit card benefit, or a walk-in fee, this patio is a more comfortable airside smoking option than the general smoking area near Burger King.

Vaping Rules

Vaping is treated the same as smoking under Cyprus airport rules. You must use designated smoking areas only. Vaping in non-designated areas inside the terminal carries the same penalty as smoking.

Fines

Smoking or vaping in any non-designated area inside the terminal building carries a 200 euro fine. This applies to all areas including waiting lounges, check-in halls, boarding gates, and restrooms.

Bottom Line

Smoke outside before you enter the terminal, and once airside, head to the area behind Burger King and Costa Coffee. If you have lounge access, the Swissport Club Lounge patio is a cleaner alternative.
