Smoking policy at Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv Sde Dov Airport (SDV)
Warnings & Caveats
Smoking is not permitted anywhere inside the terminal. For connecting flights requiring re-entry, you must pass through security again after smoking outside.
Sde Dov Airport (SDV) is a small domestic airport in Tel Aviv, and smoking is only permitted outside the terminal building. There are no designated smoking rooms or indoor smoking areas anywhere inside. The terminal itself is described as roughly the size of a large restaurant, so the whole experience here is compact and quick.
Before Security
You can smoke freely outside the terminal before you check in or after you step back out. Because the building is so small and security lines move fast, most travelers find it easy to smoke outside, check their bags, and then re-enter without much hassle.
The outdoor area in front of the terminal entrance is the only practical smoking spot.
No dedicated outdoor smoking zone is marked, but stepping outside the building is permitted.
After Security
There is no smoking allowed airside at Sde Dov. Once you have passed through security, you cannot smoke until you exit the building again. If you need a cigarette after clearing security, you will need to exit the terminal and go back through the security checkpoint.
Re-entry After Smoking
According to traveler reports, re-entry is straightforward. Security at SDV is quick: you put hand luggage through the X-ray machine and walk through the metal detector. If you have no hand luggage, it is even faster. If you are traveling with someone who stays inside, you can leave them there and rejoin them after smoking outside.
Transit and Connecting Flights
Sde Dov handles domestic Israeli flights only. If you are connecting through SDV as part of a longer itinerary that involves an international leg, note that you would need to exit the terminal to smoke and then re-clear security for your next flight.
Vaping
No specific vaping policy for SDV was found in available sources. Given the general no-smoking-indoors rule, it is safest to treat vaping the same as smoking and only vape outside the terminal.
Bottom Line
Smoke outside before you go in, or step back out after check-in. Airside, there is nothing available, but re-entry through security is fast enough that it is not a major inconvenience at this small airport.
