Smoking policy at Toulouse, Toulouse-Blagnac International Airport (TLS)
Warnings & Caveats
Smoking is banned inside all terminal buildings under France's Évin law. Violations can result in fines. The area near Gates 8/9 was reported closed as of October 2025 (until at least November 2025). Availability of individual terraces can change with ongoing terminal works; check signage or ask staff if a spot appears closed.
Toulouse-Blagnac (TLS) does allow smoking, but only in outdoor designated areas. There are no indoor smoking rooms anywhere in the terminal, as France's Évin law bans smoking in all enclosed public spaces. The good news is that airside terraces exist, so you do not have to exit the secure zone to have a cigarette.
Before Security
Landside smoking is straightforward: step outside through any of the terminal entrance doors on the departures or arrivals level and use the open-air areas immediately outside. These spots are accessible to anyone, including people who have just landed and are waiting for a pickup. No special access is needed.
After Security
There are two documented airside outdoor terraces for departing and connecting passengers:
Hall C, near Gate 30: The main airside smoking terrace, roughly 30 m², on the departures level on the boarding side. It has runway views and is the most consistently reported spot. An October 2025 traveler update notes that the area near Gate 9 was closed until November 2025, but this Gate 30 terrace upstairs was open and in use.
Hall D end, near Gates 60/61: An outdoor smoking area at the international and long-haul end of the terminal. Useful if you are boarding from that wing. Multiple travelers have confirmed this spot since 2021.
A third spot near Gates 8/9 has been reported in the past (confirmed as recently as April 2022), but as of October 2025 it was temporarily closed for works. Check signage or ask staff if you are in that part of the terminal.
Terminal Layout
TLS has a single terminal divided into four connected halls (A through D). Hall A handles regional and low-cost flights (low-numbered gates), Hall B is the older section, Hall C covers Schengen and European routes, and Hall D is the newest section for international and non-Schengen flights (Gates 60 and above). All halls are connected airside, so you can walk between them without re-clearing security.
Vaping Rules
E-cigarettes are treated the same as tobacco at French airports. Vape only in the designated outdoor smoking terraces listed above, not inside the terminal building.
Transit and Layovers
If you are connecting through TLS without leaving the secure zone, the Gate 30 terrace in Hall C and the Gates 60/61 area in Hall D are your options. No paid lounge with a dedicated smoking terrace has been reported at TLS, so access to airside smoking does not require a lounge membership or fee.
Bottom Line
Smoking is possible both before and after security at TLS, all outdoors. Head to the Gate 30 terrace in Hall C or the Gates 60/61 area in Hall D once airside; landside, just step outside the terminal doors.
