Vilnius International Airport (VNO) has a clear but workable smoking policy: smoking inside the terminal building is banned, but designated areas exist both landside (outside) and airside (past security). If you smoke traditional cigarettes or use IQOS/vaping devices, you have options on both sides of the checkpoint, though the airside rooms are small and can get crowded.

Before Security

Landside, your only option is to head outside the terminal building to the designated outdoor smoking areas. These are standard outdoor spots with ashtrays. No specific entrance or exit number is confirmed in traveler reports, so follow signage from the check-in hall toward the terminal exits.

One traveler (November 2022) described it as being on the right-hand side after passing through the duty-free shop, past a kiosk and a cafe, then to the left before Gate A10. Another report places it near A16/A17. The room is described as small, warm, and with limited air circulation.

• IQOS lounge adjacent to the smoking room: A separate, dedicated lounge for IQOS and e-cigarette users sits right next to the main smoking cabin. Described as cosy and more comfortable than the standard smoking room.

• Non-Schengen area: A December 2022 report notes that the non-Schengen zone has smoking rooms both upstairs and downstairs, which is useful if you are connecting on a non-EU flight.

Vaping and IQOS

VNO is one of the few airports in the region with a dedicated IQOS lounge airside, separate from the standard cigarette smoking room. Multiple reports from 2019 to 2022 confirm this lounge was open and operational next to the main smoking cabin near Gate A14. Vaping and IQOS use appears to be confined to this dedicated space rather than the general smoking room.

Transit and Layovers

If you are transiting through the non-Schengen area, the December 2022 report of smoking rooms on both floors of that zone is good news. For Schengen transits, the airside smoking room near A14/A16/A17 is your best bet.
