The room holds up to 40 people and has bar-height seating. It is a standalone enclosed smoking room accessible to any passenger who has cleared security, with no lounge membership or fee required.
Be aware that this room has a complicated recent history:
It was closed during the COVID-19 period (from at least August 2020).
It reopened in September 2022, then was reportedly under renovation in July 2022 and closed again briefly in early February 2023.
A traveler confirmed it reopened on 17 February 2023 and was back in its original location on the second floor.
Given these repeated closures, it is worth checking recent traveler reports before your flight, as the situation can change without notice.
Vaping Rules
Italian law prohibits the use of electronic cigarettes in all enclosed public spaces, including airport terminals. Vaping is treated the same as smoking indoors and is not permitted inside the terminal building.
Transit and Layovers
If you are transiting through VCE and have already cleared security, the second-floor smoking room is your only realistic airside option. There is no information in available sources about exiting and re-entering security for a smoke, so plan accordingly if you have a long layover.
