Smoking or vaping inside the terminal building is prohibited under Danish law. Vaping is treated identically to cigarette smoking: outdoor designated zones only. Connecting passengers who want to smoke must exit the terminal and clear security again.
Aarhus Airport is a small regional airport in Tirstrup, east of Aarhus, and like all Danish airports it operates under strict indoor smoking restrictions. Smoking is not permitted inside the terminal building at any point, and there are no designated indoor smoking rooms airside. Your only realistic option is to smoke outside before you pass through security.
Before Security
The terminal at AAR is compact, so finding the outdoor smoking zones is straightforward. Designated smoking areas are located outside the terminal entrance, in marked zones on the landside forecourt. Look for the yellow smoking-area markers near the main entrance doors. Because the building is small, you won't have to walk far, but you do need to be outside the terminal structure itself.

Vaping follows the same rules as cigarettes at Danish airports: treat your e-cigarette exactly as you would a regular cigarette and only use it in the outdoor smoking zones.
After Security
Once you have cleared security at Aarhus Airport, there are no smoking or vaping options available. The airside area is entirely smoke-free. There are no dedicated smoking rooms, no outdoor terraces accessible after the security checkpoint, and no paid lounges with smoking facilities at this airport. If you need to smoke after clearing security, you would have to exit back through passport control and leave the terminal, then re-enter and go through security again, which is a significant time cost at any airport.
Vaping Rules
Denmark applies the same rules to e-cigarettes as to traditional cigarettes in public spaces. At Aarhus Airport, vaping indoors is not permitted. Use your vape only in the outdoor designated zones before security, and check with your airline regarding carrying e-cigarettes and liquids in your hand luggage.
Transit and Layovers
AAR handles a modest volume of connecting passengers. If you are transiting, you will not be able to smoke airside. Plan to arrive with enough time to step outside before your first security pass if you need a cigarette before a long flight.
