Smoking or vaping anywhere inside the terminal building or airside (past security) carries a fine of 200 euros. The outdoor beer garden terrace in the departures area does NOT permit smoking despite being open-air. Connecting passengers must exit the secure zone to smoke, then re-clear security, which can take a long time during peak summer season.
Corfu International Airport (CFU) is entirely smoke-free inside the terminal building. The only place you can smoke or vape is a single designated outdoor area located just outside the terminal, before security. Once you pass through security, there are no smoking facilities of any kind airside, and no paid lounges with smoking rooms have been reported at this airport.
Before Security
There is one designated outdoor smoking area accessible before you go through security:
Exit the arrivals hall and turn left. The smoking zone is near the main entrance of the terminal building, in a clearly marked outdoor spot.
This area is open to all travelers before they enter the secure zone.
Vaping follows the same rules: only permitted in this outdoor designated area, not anywhere inside the terminal.
The airport is a compact, single-terminal operation, so the smoking area is easy to find once you step outside.
After Security
There are no smoking areas airside at CFU. Once you pass through security, you cannot smoke anywhere in the departure lounge, waiting areas, boarding gates, or the outdoor beer garden terrace in departures (that area explicitly prohibits smoking despite being open-air). There are no paid lounges at Corfu Airport that offer a smoking facility.
Connecting Flights
If you have a connecting flight through Corfu and want to smoke, you will need to exit the secure zone entirely, use the outdoor smoking area near the main entrance, and then go back through security again. Corfu Airport can get very busy during the summer tourist season, and security queues can be long. Give yourself plenty of time before your onward flight, especially if you also need to re-check luggage.
Vaping Rules
Vaping is treated exactly the same as smoking at CFU. You can vape in the outdoor designated area before security, but it is not permitted anywhere inside the terminal or airside.
Fines and Penalties
Smoking or vaping in any non-designated area inside the terminal carries a 200 euro fine. The entire terminal building, including check-in halls, waiting lounges, boarding gates, and restrooms, is a strict no-smoking zone.
Bottom Line
Smoke before you go through security at the outdoor area near the main entrance, because there is absolutely nothing available once you are airside. If you are connecting, budget serious extra time for the security re-entry queue.
