Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS)

Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is one of the more smoker-friendly airports in Southeast Asia. Designated indoor smoking rooms exist in both the international and domestic terminals, accessible after security in the departure zones, so you won't need to exit the secure area to have a cigarette before your flight.

Before Security

Landside options are limited but available:

• Designated outdoor smoking areas are located near the terminal entrances, accessible to anyone before check-in.

• Keep in mind that Bali's tropical heat and humidity can make outdoor smoking uncomfortable, especially midday. Most travelers prefer the air-conditioned indoor rooms once they're past security.

• The arrivals pick-up zone also has a smoking area right next to it, useful if you've just landed and are waiting for a ride.

After Security

Both terminals have enclosed, air-conditioned smoking rooms in the departure zones:

International Terminal (2nd floor departures):

• The main smoking room is located between Gates 4 and 7, specifically near Gate 5, in the departure waiting area. Signage is in both Indonesian and English, so it's reasonably easy to find once you're in that gate zone.

Domestic Terminal (3rd floor departures):

• One smoking area is reported next to Gate 1C and another near Gate 6.

• A third reference places the domestic smoking area on the 3rd floor of the departure terminal, consistent with the gate-level layout for domestic flights.

• These serve passengers flying to Jakarta, Surabaya, Lombok, and other Indonesian destinations.

All rooms are indoors and clearly marked. Ventilation is described as adequate for an enclosed room, though not exceptional.

Lounges at DPS

The Premier Lounge in the International Departure terminal offers a comfortable waiting environment with Wi-Fi, showers, and massage service. Standard Priority Pass members pay USD 27 per visit; Standard Plus and Prestige members enter free. The lounge is open until 1 AM.

The TG Lounge, located right next to the Premier Lounge in International Departures, is open 24 hours and accepts walk-in guests for USD 25 per visit. No membership is required. Neither lounge is specifically confirmed to have a dedicated smoking room in the available sources, so check at the desk on arrival if that's a priority for you.

Vaping Rules

Vaping (e-cigarettes) is banned throughout Indonesia under national law. Do not vape anywhere inside or outside the terminal buildings. This applies to all areas of DPS, landside and airside.
