Smoking policy at Poznań, Poznań-Ławica Airport (POZ)
Warnings & Caveats
Smoking is strictly forbidden throughout the passenger terminal building except in the designated outdoor areas (before security) and the enclosed Palarnia cabins in the Schengen departure hall (after security). No vaping-specific rules are published; treat vaping the same as smoking and use designated areas only.
Poznań-Ławica Airport (POZ) does allow smoking, but your options are tightly controlled. Smoking inside the passenger terminal is strictly forbidden, and you are limited to a handful of designated outdoor spots landside plus special smoking cabins in the Schengen departure hall airside.
Before Security
Landside, the airport has three designated outdoor smoking spots, all located directly outside the terminal building and marked with standard signage:
In front of the main entrance to the Departure hall
In front of the second entrance to the Departure hall (next to the yellow suitcase landmark)
In front of the entrance to the Arrivals hall and check-in hall
There are no indoor smoking rooms on the public side of the terminal. You will need to step outside to smoke before you go through check-in or security. These are open-air spots, so factor in Polish weather if you are travelling in winter.
After Security
Once you are through security and into the Schengen departure hall, the airport has provided dedicated smoking cabins (Palarnia-style enclosed booths). The official airport website confirms these cabins exist in the Schengen zone, and a traveler photo from November 2016 shows a glass-walled enclosed smoking cabin in use inside the terminal airside. The cabins are enclosed and ventilated, following the standard Polish airport format.
No smoking facilities have been reported or confirmed for any non-Schengen or international zone at POZ, which makes sense given the airport's predominantly Schengen traffic.
Vaping Rules
No specific vaping policy for POZ is documented in available sources. Polish law generally restricts e-cigarette use in enclosed public spaces, so treat vaping the same as smoking: use the designated outdoor areas before security or the enclosed Palarnia cabins airside. Do not vape freely inside the terminal.
Transit and Layovers
POZ is a compact single-terminal airport. If you are connecting within the Schengen zone, the airside smoking cabins in the departure hall are accessible to you. No paid lounges with smoking access have been reported at this airport.
Bottom Line
Smoke at one of the three outdoor spots before you enter the terminal, or use the enclosed Palarnia cabins in the Schengen departure hall after security. No indoor smoking is permitted anywhere else in the building.
